The oil is in high demand in the East, where sustainable and responsible plantations have been created. The essential oil is extracted from the heartwood of Aetoxylon Sympetalum. It is a tree that grows on the coasts and mangroves. The oil is used in Asia as a ceremonial oil, for incense, skin care and perfumery. Although it is called White Oud, and the tree is from the Thymelaceae family where Aquilaria trees (Agarwood Trees) come from, this oil is not infected with the fungus that infects Agarwood.
