Add this item to your watchlist for special offers!! Product: Cardamom Essential Oil 100% Pure. Latin Name: Elettaria Cardamomum Maton. Country of Origin: India. Extraction Method: Steam Distilled. Description: Cardamom essential oil is steam distilled from the seeds of the Cardamom plant, also sometimes known as amomum elettaria. The plant is from the Zingiberaceae family, like Ginger, but the rhizome (fleshy root) does not produce a commercial essential oil, as the rhizome of Ginger does. Cardamom’s essential oil content is highest in the unripe seed pods, so they are harvested before ripening. Cardamom essential oil is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a sweet-spicy, warming fragrance, and a woody-balsamic undertone. Cardamom essential oil is a relative newcomer to aromatherapy, but is being appreciated for its digestive-stimulant properties and its soothing effect on the lungs. It is used either in an abdominal massage, similarly to Fennel essential oil, or in combination with Eucalyptus essential oil as an inhalation of as a foot rub. It is also commonly used to help treat anorexia, colic, cramp, dyspepsia, griping pains, halitosis, heartburn, indigestion, vomiting, mental fatigue and nervous strain. Coughs and colds: Add 2 drops of Cardamom essential oil to a bowl of hot water for an inhalation to help loosen phlegm and soothe a dry cough.
