Ethically harvested in the mountains of Utah in fall 2024 for best potency value. Cultivated the root to make sure more grows back where it has been harvested from. Commonly used for making tea. I dry scrub off as much dirt as possible before listing for sale. It will not be marked for weight on the packaging. As food, Oshá produces a flavor described as “chervil-celery-parsley flavor” or a pungent cross of flavors reminiscent of celery and licorice. Here is a common recipe for making tea, please note you can reuse the same root for 5+ batches and then starts to lose its potency. Bring 1 gallon of water to a boil and then turn down heat to low and simmer, covered, for 15-30 minutes with 1 oz of root. Strain the root from the hot water into a separate container. Store the Root once dry in a dry place and environment. Water is now the tea, recommend to only drink 1 cup per day and recommend having chilled in a fridge. I personally like to add it to black tea to calm down the strong flavor (adding to any tea is just fine as well). Osha is a plant. Historically, the root has been used as medicine by Native American and Hispanic cultures. In some Native American cultures, Oshá is called “bear root” or “bear medicine”. According to the ethnobotanist Shawn Sigstedt, who lived and studied with the Diné, a story is told of the brown bear’s affinity for the Oshá roots. The bear would eat the roots and rub some of them over its fur. The Diné credit the bear with leading them to the medicine. Today, Osha is used for sore throat, bronchitis, cough, common cold, influenza, swine flu, covid and pneumonia. It is also used to treat other viral infections including herpes and AIDS/HIV. Some people use it for indigestion. This is an all-natural item and not guaranteed to work or help with any of those things. Pregnancy and breast-feeding: It’s UNSAFE to take Osha if you are pregnant. It might start menstruation, and this might cause a miscarriage.
